The Wellness Community - Greater Washington, DC announces the Wellness Snapdragons Dragon Boat Club, the only co-ed dragon boat club for survivors of all cancers and their supporters in the DC Area. The Snapdragons exceeded the minimum requirement of 12 as you can see from our photo blog of the first practice, April 18, 2010, at the Gangplank Marina on Washington, DC's Southwest Waterfront under coach Winkie Day of the DC Dragon Boat Club.
The Wellness Snapdragons raced for the first time as a community team in the DC International Dragon Boat Festival, May 15, 2010, at Thompson's Boat House, in Georgetown.
Early in 2011, we will start recruiting again for the THE SNAPDRAGONS. Practices will begin in April at the Gangplank Marina.
In our community we use dragon boating to make a difference - to raise awareness about surviving cancer, to encourage survivors to live full and active lives, and to raise funds for The Wellness Community - Greater DC.
In the USA, Canada, and beyond, we share our strength racing against other cancer survivor teams.

As members of the International Breast Cancer Paddlers' Commission the Wellness Snapdragons will compete in festivals in the USA and abroad to promote an awareness of health issues after the diagnosis of breast cancer.
